Magnolias
Magnolias, Pastels, Framed size 16″ x 20″
I really enjoy painting with pastels, and also like to paint magnolias, so this is a favorite of mine. It has a very soft and delicate look to it.
This shows the softness that can be achieved with pastels that is somewhat different from the effects that watercolors can produce. The petals of these blossoms have an abstract quality which adds interest to the over-all composition. Pastels are fun to use outdoors, since drawing/painting with them creates a lot of chalky dust.
